Irregular Flagstone
Broken Edges for a Natural Form
Broken Edges for a Natural Form
Irregular flagstone offers a popular alternative to square and rectangular pattern stone with four sawn edges. Unlike those uniform shapes, irregular flagstone—often called “stand up”—features naturally formed, asymmetrical pieces with little to no 90‑degree angles. As a result, it creates a more organic and free‑flowing appearance. Many homeowners and designers choose this pattern when they want a natural, rustic look rather than a symmetrical layout, and it blends seamlessly into outdoor landscapes.
Additionally, irregular flagstone comes in two common thickness ranges: an average of ¾” to 1″, or an average of 1½”. Because this stone forms naturally, it shows greater thickness variation than our more consistent random‑pattern bluestone. This variation contributes to its charm while also giving each project a truly unique character.
