Blue/Gray Range Natural Cleft PA Flagstone
A Formal, Yet Natural Look
A Formal, Yet Natural Look
The Blue to Gray range is the tightest, most consistent color range we offer in the natural cleft paving material. This range excludes all other shades and tones except for those of the blue and gray variation. The blue/ gray range is a good choice for a more formal look or uniform appearance. The pictures below highlight finished projects that utilized natural cleft paving furnished in the blue/gray color range.
All natural cleft paving has texture that is practically non-slip, yet still easily accommodates furniture, foot traffic, and everyday wear and tear.
Thicknesses vary within the natural cleft paving material. These thickness variations are common in natural split-faced stone. The average 1/2″ thick natural cleft stone varies from approximately 3/8″ to 3/4″. The average 1″ thick natural cleft stone varies from approximately 3/4″ to 1 1/4″. The average 1 1/2″ thick natural cleft stone varies from approximately 1 1/4″ to 2″.
Generally, for residential installations, the average 1″ thick natural cleft paving is installed in a mortar bed on top of a poured concrete slab. The joints between the stones are then pointed with a specific mortar mix. The average 1 1/2″ thick natural cleft paving is installed in a dry-pack on top of crushed stone, and the joints can be swept with sand or grit. Polymeric sand is also an option some people choose to sweep between the joints of their dry-set patios. Read all manufacturers instructions if using the polymeric sand, it can leave a residue on the bluestone which has to be cleaned with an acid wash. Feel free to call the office with any installation questions you may have.
