Irregular Flagstone
Broken Edges for a Natural Form
Broken Edges for a Natural Form
Irregular flagstone offers a popular alternative to square and rectangular pattern stone with four sawn edges. Unlike those uniform shapes, irregular flagstone—often called “stand up”—features naturally formed, asymmetrical pieces with little to no 90‑degree angles. As a result, it creates a more organic and free‑flowing appearance. Many homeowners and designers choose this pattern when they want a natural, rustic look rather than a symmetrical layout, and it blends seamlessly into outdoor landscapes.
Additionally, the irregular stone comes in two common thickness ranges: an average of ¾” to 1″, or an average of 1½”. Because this stone forms naturally, it shows greater thickness variation than our more consistent random‑pattern bluestone. This variation contributes to its charm while also giving each project a truly unique character.

All materials are packaged on heavy duty end gate pallets. Most stone is banded or wrapped for secure packaging. A full pallet can weigh 3,000 to 4,000+ pounds. Depending on overall size, local deliveries are either hand-unloaded, or a truck with a forklift is employed. For non local deliveries, stone is shipped via common carrier van type trucks or open deck tractor trailers. It is then the recipient’s responsibility to have a forklift on site to unload the materials from the truck.
